How the calculation works
US fees per transaction (one item checkout). Commission applies only to the final item price; processing is 2.9% of item price plus buyer-paid shipping and sales tax, plus $0.30. Buyer-paid shipping funds the label and is not seller revenue. Enter only seller-covered shipping in your shipping cost. Taxes on fees and Premier Shop discounts are not modeled.
Commission = item price × category/tier rate. Processing = (item price + buyer-paid shipping + buyer-paid sales tax) × processing rate + fixed fee. Net payout = item price − commission − processing. Profit = payout − item cost − seller-paid shipping − other costs. Margin = profit ÷ item price; ROI = profit ÷ entered costs.

How much does Whatnot take?
Standard TCG commission is 8%, plus processing of 2.9% + $0.30. A $50.00 card with $5.00 buyer-paid shipping and $0.00 tax incurs $4.00 commission and $1.90 processing, leaving $44.11 before seller costs. Calculations retain precision until display; platform rounding may differ.
Is commission charged on shipping?
No. Commission uses the item’s final sale price only, excluding shipping and tax. Payment processing includes buyer-paid shipping and sales tax. Buyer-paid shipping covers the label and does not increase your payout; seller-covered shipping is deducted when calculating profit.
How do Whatnot tiers work?
Since September 21, 2026, your total sales in a four-week period set the tier for the next period. Select the tier shown for your account, not one based on this item’s price. US thresholds are Standard: $0.00+; Tier 1: $15,000.00+; Tier 2: $35,000.00+; Tier 3: $50,000.00+; Tier 4: $100,000.00+; Tier 5: $250,000.00+; Tier 6: $500,000.00+. Canada and Australia have different tier thresholds; this calculator models US sellers.
What are the fees for Coins?
Coins commission starts at 4% for Standard and falls to 3.5% at Tier 6. The same 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee applies to the total order value.
Is the Premier Shop discount included?
No. The 10% Premier Shop commission discount on top of the new commission rate runs only through October 31, 2026 and is not modeled. Taxes on fees that may apply outside the US are also excluded.
Can I target a profit margin or ROI?
Yes. In reverse mode, choose payout, profit, profit margin (profit ÷ seller revenue) or ROI (profit ÷ your costs) and enter the target. The calculator finds the lowest price that reaches it under the selected fee rules. Margins at or above the platform’s maximum cannot be reached, and ROI needs a cost above zero.
